Swiss
ambassador to Cambodia Ivo Sieber pledged his country’s continued
support of Kantha Bopha Hospital yesterday, mentioning that almost half
of the hospital’s funding comes from the Swiss government. The promise
was made during Amb. Seiber’s meeting with Foreign Minister Hor Namhong
at the Foreign Ministry on Monday.
“The
Swiss government has promised to strengthen cooperation with Cambodia,
especially trade, because currently the trade between both countries is
only at $20 million,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Chum Sounry said after
the meeting.
“Mr.
Namhong and Mr. Sieber discussed many sectors related to the
relationship between both countries in the future, especially discussing
ways to improve the health sector in the country to be better and
finding any possible ways to sustain Kantha Bopha Hospital,” he added.
According
to Mr. Sounry, the Swiss government has also promised to develop clean
water sources in places struggling with contaminated wells and rivers.
