Cambodia's tourism numbers increased by 23 percent during the 2018 Khmer New Year holiday, which spanned from April 13 through April 16 this year, when compared to the same four-day holiday last year, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism.
In a Facebook post, the tourism ministry said on Tuesday that the total number of local and international tourists to travel within Cambodia during Khmer New Year reached 5.1 million this year. Local tourists amounted to more than 5 million, while international tourists accounted for fewer than 100,000 of the total travellers recorded during the holiday.
The ministry did not include its methodology for recording these statistics in its post.
