Apocalypse Mao?

The official Chinese Communist Party mouthpiece, the People’s Daily, among others in China, have suggested that the Taliban have seized power in Afghanistan using the military tactics of PRC founder Mao Zedong, who recommended “surrounding the cities from the countryside.” But some netizens discussing the dramatic scenes in Kabul focused on the fear, repression and destruction wrought on their societies by the Taliban in the 1990s and Mao’s Communists some four decades earlier.

You see Khmers. Whatever you think of the Taliban, no matter what they did, or how bad they were, all is forgotten. They are now in charge and will attract recognition and legitimacy. Who will be first to recognize them? The UK defense minister has hinted that they will work with them. UK Foreign minister has said, they will be pragmatic. Turkey's leader has praise them for their statement and is open to cooperation. Maybe China and Russia too. When you are a coward, people spit on you. When you fight and win, people respect you no matter what you did. The only mistake the Khmer Rouge made was losing to the evil Yuon. Had they won, they would have been recognize by both the US and China no matter what they did or how bad they were.
