For an otherwise cunning, treacherous mind, Hun Sen appears rather naive and gullible over such public threats and attacks upon his critics. If Mr Sorn Dara has only been a mild threat to him and his regime through his social media broadcast and profile up to now, these public outbursts could only ignite and further increase public sympathy, interest, and solidarity towards Sorn Dara. Harming or punishing the latter's family members and relatives for what he does or says would only swing the public sentiment against the aggressor - Hun Sen - and raise the victims' profile in people's perception and consciousness. 

Mr Prayut Chan-o-cha of Thailand, by contrast, and a another 'strongman' in the region by temperament and methods in dealing with his enemies, is much shrewder. His social media critics - a phenomenon of this Facebook age - have been known to have quietly disappeared and silenced in recent years of Prayut’s time in power.
