PHNOM PENH, June 22 (Reuters) - The World Bank will provide $110 million in financing for Cambdoia to improve is main national highway, its board said in a statement on Friday.

•The funding will upgrade National Road 4, which links capital Phnom Penh to Cambodia’s only deep-sea port in Preah Sihanouk province, with an overlay of asphalt concrete, shoulders will be replaced and drains and bridges will be built along flood prone areas, the World Bank said.

•Improvement of this road will reduce travel time and logistic costs, which would help Cambodia’s economy to be more competitive in the region, said Sovicheano Pheng, Secretary of State of Public Works and Transport in the statement.

•The financing will upgrade existing weighing stations and reduce the risk of overloading and road accidents as speed-limit zoning, guide-signs, solar powered lights and speed cameras will be installed, the bank said. (Reporting by Prak Chan Thul; Editing by Simon Cameron-Moore)
