A responsible future government of Cambodia must ensure that
Dr Kem Ley's legacy and memory are preserved and carved in the national
conscientiousness, along with the legacies of all other fallen patriots who
laboured, risked and sacrificed all for the public good, and in service to the
interests and Freedom of the Nation.
If his body is to be cremated in accordance with Buddhist customs,
then the ashes should be distributed in urns to be kept at public shrines or
monuments erected in his memory and honour in all the provincial cities as well
as the islands, and, of course, the nation's capital itself.
In the meantime, all Khmers – rich and poor alike - should
look out for the wellbeing of the young family he has now left behind…
