CAMBODIA: Women's Empowerment

Phnom Penh, Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Volunteer Opportunity posted by ELI International Volunteers on October 11, 2016

The women of Cambodia are hard working, yet make up a disproportionately large segment of the poor. Most strive against poverty with little or no support or guidance. They have been victims in recent years of land grabs by the notoriously corrupt government of Cambodia. In growing numbers, they are now organizing themselves into different groups to help to improve the living standards of their families. The Urban Poor Woman Development Organization has worked to defend their rights, educate them on options, and strengthen communication among them.

The UPDW receives limited funding from several international organizations, including the Global Fund for Women. They desperately need help in communicating their cause to the funding community. As a volunteer, you will accompany workers in the field to learn about their efforts. You will also work closely with the director to develop reports, grant proposals, press releases, and general communications in English.

Participants must be at least 18 years old or older at the time of their program.
