A verdict is due on March 30 in the incitement and defamation case brought against former opposition leader Sam Rainsy by Prime Minister Hun Sen over comments suggesting government involvement in the murder of political analyst Kem Ley.
The case, one of several brought against the former Cambodia National Rescue Party president that are widely believed politically motivated, was tried by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Friday.
Speaking to journalists after the two-hour hearing, lawyer for the premier Ky Tech said his team had called police from the Interior Ministry to testify that clips of Rainsy making the claim at a public forum in France, where the politician has lived to avoid arrest since November 2015, were genuine.

“I believe the judge and the court will make an appropriate ruling,” he added, noting Rainsy had not produced evidence to back up his claims. “I hope the court will sentence and fine him according to the law.”
Reached yesterday, Rainsy, who left the CNRP in February to avoid his convictions being used against the party, said he stood by his comments.
“I stand by all my previous statements related to this act of state terrorism,” he wrote.
Rainsy’s lawyer Sam Sokong, who attended the hearing, was unreachable yesterday

Dear compatriots,

Yuon has been trying to prevent Khmer people from having a National Hero, a Martyr, and a Role Model to follow.

For instance, the words "Ah Nah Kor Dauch Ah nar" were created by Yuon to make Khmer distrust Khmer.

Sam Rainsy has sacrificed a big part of his life trying to save Cambodia from the evil Yuon. We should understand that imperfection is part of the human being. We need to have tolerance and perseverance in our struggle to repel Yuon's dominance over Cambodia.

Nowadays, they have painted ALL Khmer leaders as corrupt, incompetent, stupid, unethical, etc...to a point that we have no one to replace the ignorant crazy Yuon's puppet Hun Sen.

Concerning Pen Sovann, I personally think he is a Khmer hero. His refusal to execute Yuon's orders at a time when Cambodia was isolated from the rest of the world and Cambodia was fully controlled by Yuon was exceptional. At that time, Yuon can kill Penn Sovann easily without suffering any consequences.

On the contrary, Ah Kwack Hun Sen has sold his soul to Yuon in exchange for his power. This monster Hun Sen was born to facilitate Yuon to swallow Cambodia. He has never hesitated to kill Khmer people, to destroy Khmer natural resource, and to cede Khmer land to please his master Yuon.

We should adopt Pen Sovann's courage in our present struggle to free Cambodia from the evil Yuon.
