State-run energy provider Electricite du Cambodge (EdC) will cut the power supply in some areas of Phnom Penh, Kandal and Kampong Speu provinces when electrical lines are moved to make way for the expansion of National Road 5.

According to a statement released yesterday, EdC said the dismantling and installation of electrical lines will take place from June 29 to July 2, between 9am and 5pm.

Today, the areas affected will include Phnom Penh’s Chroy Changvar, Por Sen Chey, Russei Keo and Prek Pnov districts; Kandal’s Sa’ang and Ang Snuol districts; and Kampong Speu’s Kong Pisei district.

On July 1, the areas affected will include Phnom Penh’s Chroy Changvar, Prampi Makara and Por Sen Chey districts, Kandal’s Ang Snuol district and Kampong Speu’s Kong Pisei district.

On July 2, the areas affected include Phnom Penh’s Tuol Kork, Sen Sok and Por Sen Chey districts.

The planned outages come just days after multiple provinces were affected by unplanned blackouts.

So sad...

Asian countries' electricity annual production in billion kWh, 2016:
1,000 ; Japan
500 ; South Korea
300 ; Taiwan
190 ; Vietnam
17 ; Laos
1.5 ; Cambodia. (Thus Cambodia still imports another 1.5 billion kWh from Vietnam!)

So sad. A third to a half of Cambodians are still without connection to electricity.

You lie. Laos producia ten times more than Cambodia. Vietnam produces more than a hundred times! That's too much.

I will leave it to the world to verify the truth.
