Far from backing down in the face of international criticism, Prime Minister Hun Sen today ratcheted up his attacks on the United States, announcing that he had instructed the Immigration Department to check for American “spies” and suggesting the US Embassy pull out its Peace Corps volunteers.

The premier’s anti-US rhetoric has intensified in the past few weeks following the arrest of opposition leader Kem Sokha, which has been widely condemned by civil society and foreign governments. Senior government officials have claimed Sokha was receiving US assistance to foment a “colour revolution” in the country.

In response, the US Embassy publicly questioned Cambodia’s commitment to democracy and has denied the claims – based on a 2013 speech given by Sokha – as a “red herring”. This week it also issued a notice to its citizens warning of anti-American rhetoric in Cambodia.

In an unrelated move, the US also imposed visas sanctions on senior Foreign Ministry officials for the Kingdom’s refusal to accept Cambodian US residents slated for deportation due to felony convictions.

Hitting back, the premier suspended a program that assisted the US in finding and repatriating the remains of American soldiers killed during the Vietnam War.

Speaking to workers at Vattanac Industrial Park today, Hun Sen said he asked US Ambassador William Heidt to clarify whether the country had assisted Kem Sokha in planning an overthrow of his government, attributing the accusation to Sokha himself.

“I want to ask His Excellency to clarify whether Kem Sokha’s remark was right or wrong, because we have not accused the US, but Kem Sokha was the one who made accusations that US had instructed [him] on the way to topple and to change the [government] like in Yugoslavia and Serbia,” said the premier.

The premier added that if the accusations were true then it was up to US President Donald Trump and three former presidents to clarify their actions as well.

“[If] Kem Sokha’s remarks are real then the US government since [George] Bush, [Bill] Clinton, [George] W Bush, [Barack] Obama and Donald Trump have to come to clarify whether they had instructed Kem Sokha like this or not, if the ambassador has no capability to clarify,” he said.

He again resurrected long-held grouses about US support to the Lon Nol regime and its bombing campaign in the early 1970s, and said that the Immigration Department will now investigate US “spies” whom he suspected of being behind the 2013 labour strikes on Veng Sreng Boulevard.

“In the past, we have known about it, and there were two spies who had provided instruction for the Veng Sreng [strikes],” he said.

Hun Sen also characterised the embassy’s travel warning as a terror threat alert, asking the US to share any intelligence on the purported threat, while seemingly ignoring the fact that the statement explicitly referenced “anti-American rhetoric by officials” in the Cambodian government.

If the situation was so dire, Hun Sen said, then the US should pull out its Peace Corp volunteers.

“If Your Excellency’s country suffering the threat of a terrorist attack, this is Your Excellency’s issue and should not scare Cambodians. And it is good if your Excellency then take your Peace Corps back,” he said.

The suggestion to pull out Peace Corp volunteers came as the embassy was swearing in 71 new recruits to the program in Phnom Penh.

The US Embassy today declined to comment on the premier’s comments, but earlier this week Ambassador Heidt told journalists that the accusations of links to a purported “colour revolution” were “absurd”, while reiterating the US’ continued support to its programmes in the Kingdom.

“While we are doing these things to chuoy srok khmer [save Cambodia], that in the background we have been conducting a secret campaign that lasts 24 years, through four American presidents, to undermine all that progress that we are trying to help bring about. It just makes no sense,” Heidt said on Tuesday.

Immigration Department head Sok Phal declined to comment and National Police spokesman Kirth Chantharith could not be reached for comment.

Don't let this angry Vietnamese puppet Hun Sen do whatever he wants. Hun Sen is not a Prime Minister of Cambodian, but he is a Vietnamese puppet, a killer (a ghost Ho Chi Minh follower, a friend of Le Duc Tho). Let Duc Tho is a Vietnamese military commander from Hanoi, a real father of Hun Maneth and a former husband of Hun Sun's wife Bun Rany (former named Bunheang).

Hun Sen is a very suspicious Khmer Rouges killer who escaped into Vietnam when he was shot into his one eye during the Killing Fields (1975-1979).

Hun Sen is was installed as a Foreign Minister by the Vietnamese military while Mr. Pen Sovan was a Prime Minister.

Mr. Pen Sovan was arrested and jailed in Hanoi for 10 years because Mr. Sovan refused to take order from the Vietnamese military commanders and leaders from Hanoi to allow the illegal Vietnamese/Yuon immigrants flood into Cambodia and refused to execute Hanoi's 5K plan to kill more than half million of innocent and well-educated Cambodian/Khmer people by pushing them walking the land mines and chop the trees at the border of Cambodia and Thailand.

Hun Sen is a traitor and committed treason because he accepted the order from the Vietnamese military commanders and leaders from Hanoi to execute 5K plans and allowed the illegal Vietnamese immigrants to flood into Cambodia. Also Hun Sen was illegally installed as a Prime Minister of Cambodia which was not recognized by the UN, the West and International Community.

Hun Sen is a traitor and committed treason because he pleased his Vietnamese masters by hurting more Cambodia people until today.

Hun Sen has committed crimes against Humanity and a criminal of all circumstances from the Killing Fields 1975 until today.

Hun Sen must be claimed a criminal by the UN, the West, the innocent of Cambodian people and victims of all kinds of crimes in Cambodia.

Again, please don't let this angry idiot Hun Sen do whatever he wants against the UN, the U.S., Europeans, International donors, well-educated Cambodian people and heroes or patriots.

We need to execute this criminal Hun Sen as soon as possible.

We demand China and Vietnam to stop support this criminal Hun Sen as the second Pol Pot number 2 to create the second Killing Fields in the near future.

We need to be aware of what Hun Sen has been doing in Cambodia to continue to stay power and get away from the serious crimes he has committed in Cambodia and on the world stage.

The UN, European unions leaders, the U.S. officials, International Community, all Cambodian opposition leaders, and all Cambodian people should criticize the China and Vietnam who are the ones who involved the killing of millions of Cambodian people and tried to support the criminal Hun Sen in order to steal the natural resources from Cambodia and do illegal businesses with this criminal Hun Sen and his corrupted CPP officials (lazy clowns).
