Two Por Sen Chey district officials will be sent to court today for beating up a woman after they hit her motorcycle with their car.

The incident occurred on Saturday, with district police officials arresting Por Sen Chey officials Sum Sovanrith, 30, and Sum Satya Punreay, 25 – who are brothers – after they beat up Chhe Sophal, 27, after hitting her vehicle with their car.

Sophal claims Sovanrith was driving the car, and after the collision she questioned the duo, but Satya Punreay got out of the car and hit her on the neck and leg.

“He [Punreay] hit me two times on my neck and kicked me one time on the thigh. They were driving in a drunken manner,” she said.

A CCTV video released on local media shows Sophal riding away, but the duo follow her and one of them gets out of the car and again kicks her from her motorcycle.

“I would like to ask the authority to take legal action because I am worried about my safety,” she said yesterday.

Chea Sovann, deputy district police chief, confirmed the siblings had been arrested on Sunday and after questioning that ended yesterday evening, the two would be sent to Phnom Penh Municipal Court today.

“We have finished the questioning, and we are going to send them to the court tomorrow. According to the questioning, they are facing an intentional violence [charge] on the victim,” Sovann said.
