Khmer Circle:
A British ambassador to the country once described his embassy there as "a post box". Cambodians [or at any rate the majority of those wishing to obtain the UK entry visa] are routinely required to attend their visa interview in Bangkok; that is the capital of another country called Thailand, and not Boeung Kak the scene of one of the Cambodian capital's worst cases of land dispute, mass forced evictions, well connected tycoons with grand urban development visions and rights abuse...
Little wonder then that Xamdaach is confident he can add another decade to his thirty years plus reign of threats and terrors!
Welcome to the Kingdom of Wonder...

Cambodia will have a new British ambassador in June. Tina Redshaw, most recently the British consul general to the Chinese city of Chongqing from 2013 until 2016, will take over the role from Bill Longhurst, according to an announcement from British Foreign & Commonwealth Office on Wednesday.
Longhurst, who has been the British Ambassador since January 2014, is known for promoting science, technology, engineering and math education and the Chevening scholarship program, which gives Cambodians the opportunity to pursue a master’s degree in the UK.
Politikoffee founder Ou Ritthy called Longhurst “one of the most tech-savvy and youth-friendly ambassadors in Cambodia”, and expressed hope Redshaw would build on his work.
“But don’t forget democracy, human rights, women empowerment and youth’s political participation programs.”
