A 21-year-old man was hospitalised with serious injuries on Sunday morning after the bulldozer he was operating struck an anti-tank mine in Phnom Penh's Por Sen Chey district, police said.
The explosion occurred around 8am in Choam Chao commune at a construction site near Wat Vihear Khuon, district Police Chief Yim Saran said.
"It sent him flying over the pagoda wall," he said.
Video of the aftermath uploaded to social media show the victim, Heng Hy, with severe burns, including to his face, legs and arms. At least half an hour elapsed after the incident before an ambulance transported him to the Preah Kossamak Hospital.
According to police, the anti-tank mine was not originally laid at the site, but had been transported there along with dirt from along National Road 4.

Khmer Rouge planted anti-tank mines to destroy the invading Vietnamese tanks but then they ended up blowing up other Khmers.
Then again the Viet may have planted those mines to kill Khmer during their 10-year or so occupation. The Vietnamese had all the times in their bloody hands. Ever think of that?
Khmer Rouges were guerrilla operating out of Thailand. They had no tank. There was no reason for the Vietnamese to plant anti-tank mines unless the reason was to kill the Khmer civilians for fun...
Underestimating the Evil Vietnamese killing mentalities, eh?
