The man has been churlish with his cowardly brand of brinkmanship with the EU and its Western allies for decades, using the long suffering, traumatised Khmer people as pawns and hostages to make good his bluffs. What has changed over the threat to suspend EBA is that, unlike instances of industrial unrests and protests in the past relating to low wages and gross ill-treatments of factory workers by mainly Chinese investors is that, this suspension of trade privileges - if put into effect - could have the real potential of turning virtually the country's entire garment sector relations [which forms Cambodia's economic backbone] upside down and, more than likely, instigating a nationwide malcontent and social unrest that may well prove impossible for the regime to put down or suppress as it had done in 2014, for example.
