Vietminh support Cambodian Communist. Cambodian Communist spit from Vietminh to become Khmer Rouge.
Vietcong and Khmer Rouge never got along. They fought a few times over the requisition of rice in Cambodia.
That's what i read from the Vietnam War book, written by the Americans. And of course the American wrote that USA secretly bombed Cambodia to support Lon Nol who never protested against USA bombing in Cambodia.
If you don't agree with what the American wrote, I can see Cambodia will never be with USA but belongs to China.
