What does 'C' in 'CLV' stand for?

"Fools learn from experience; wise men learn from history."

NB: It does not really matter whether Cambodia, Laos or Vietnam comes first in this terminology 'CLV' used to market Hanoi's scheme and ambition to swallow vulnerable and weaker neighbouring states. Several entities and kingdoms that had existed prior to the emergence of Dai Viet or Vietnam itself [the term 'it' or 'itself' is deliberately chosen to refer to this sinister character and motive of Vietnam's imperialist expansionism rather than to ordinary people of the country] all across what is known as Vietnam today have gone through this constriction process [perhaps, the 'C' in the 'CLV' stands for 'Constriction' and an ominous hint of what is to follow?!] by a combination or sequence of interchange of 'soft' and hard power play to ensure their ultimate fates would be the same.

This is why the Khmer Kroms' clamour for the world and Vietnam's recognition of what the UN define as the rights of the indigenous peoples pose such a threat and disdain for Hanoi. Most people in the world today are perhaps unaware that Vietnam is one of the few remaining empires around with many distinct national cultures and ethnographic boundaries and regions forced into that constriction machinery that is Vietnam. It is a "Melting Pot" of sorts, but not to everyone's palate or taste!

Yes, it is all about building closer relations through peaceful co-operation and development for mutual goals and benefits, but we all know who is in the driving seat in all of this and, it is not Cambodia and Laos. Judging by Hun Sen’s incessant smile he seems perfectly oblivious to the prospect of his country being swallowed whole after being constricted? Either way, like everything else he has done for Hanoi in exchange for its continued backing of him, the end result or rather his ‘ends’ always justify the means. With his assets estimated to be closer to the billion dollars mark, he certainly can afford to smile. There must be a nice, secluded tropical island somewhere that would welcome him and his meagre assets, one imagines...

As for the Vietnamese themselves, would they ever contemplate doing the same deal with China, also an immediate neighbour with far superior numbers economically and population size wise?

The ‘C’ in the ‘CLV’ could also denote ‘credit’ and only a complete fool would fall for it. In the aftermath of Vietnam’s armed invasion of Cambodia, ostensibly to oust the KR-Po Pot regime Hanoi also similiarly credited their Cambodian allies; a patched up remnants of KR defectors with the role of liberating the Cambodian people. In true Vietnamese humility and spiritual generosity: you take all the empty glory and credit, we take your land and nation.

It looks like both puppets are happy to sacrifice their countries for their power.
