A LASTING SOLUTION TO CAMBODIA’S PROBLEM

The root cause of the problem was that Hun Sen was installed by Vietnam. Hun Sen has served Vietnam well at the expense of Khmer people and Cambodia. For instance, the execution of the K5 project, and the signing of the 2005 supplemental treaty by Hun Sen produced a catastrophic repercussion on Khmer people and Cambodia.

Currently, there are so many problems embed in Khmer society:
- Rampant corruption, including corruption of power.
- Violence
- Vietnam’s influence over Khmer leaders.
- The violation of the constitution.
- Economic and political marginalization.
- Territorial Integrity
- Land grabs
- Drugs
- Environmental destruction, etc...


Notice that historically Cambodia has never had a leader selected by the people through a free and fair election, including the Sihanouk era.

The above problems exist in Cambodia because ALL POWER IS NOT EMANATED FROM THE PEOPLE. In turn, all state authority is not derived from the people.

Because Khmer people’s vote can be annulled through electoral fraud or election manipulation, the leaders have no fear of the people. KHMER PEOPLE CANNOT VOTE THEM OUT.
As a result, the violence, and the oppression have been ravaging through Khmer society.
Hun Sen even uses his mouth as law. The judiciary system became a tool for Hun Sen to strengthen his power. The power is centralized into one man.

The ANSWER to all Khmer problems is giving the people all power, making sure that every vote counts, as stipulated in the constitution.

Khmer people as a whole implore Hun Sen to build a famous and memorable legacy while he is in power by making certain from now on the transfer of power must go through a free and fair election.

For his own good, Hun Sen should establish a credible NEC, acceptable by all political parties and the vast majority of Khmer people. When Hun Sen abides by the law, Khmer people will support him, and Vietnam will never be able to remove him.

It is simple: Khmer leader selected by Vietnam, such leader will serve Vietnam. And a deep animosity among Khmer people will surface. 

When Khmer leader selected by Khmer people, that leader will work for Khmer people.

Contrary to some people’s belief, the harmony between the CPP and the opposition parties will only bolster Hun Sen's popularity. It is imperative that Hun Sen reinstates the CNRP to participate in this upcoming election.

After 2 or 3 terms with a free and fair election, Khmer people will never accept a leader installed by the foreigner again or a leader who seizes the power by force. And Hun Sen will go down in history as the BEST KHMER NATIONAL HERO if he can make this upcoming election free and fair and gracefully accept the outcome of the election. Presently, Hun Sen is considered by Khmer people as the worst Khmer leader in history, mainly due to his collusion with Vietnam.

Hun Sen is the only man in Cambodia who is capable of making history by ensuring that from now on the transition of power must go through a free and fair election.

The above solution can be obtained if and only if Hun Sen agreed to do so.

If Hun Sen is not agreed to do, we should start pressing for a comprehensive reform of the NEC. The peaceful demonstration demanding for a free and fair election must carry out BEFORE the election. But if we participate in this upcoming election with the current NEC, we knew already that we are going to lose. The protest of the rigged election AFTER the election has never produced a fruitful result.
After the election, we should join the National Assembly and keep fighting for that so called free and fair election from there.

Just remember that the people’s revolution, or any violent movement will empower Hun Sen and the evil Vietnam to crush Khmer people legally and successfully and consequently give the opportunity for Vietnam to install a new leader it wanted again.

Finally, to solve Cambodia’s problems, ALL POWER MUST BE EMANATED FROM PEOPLE, making sure every vote counts. We must concentrate on fighting for a free and fair election in order to get a Khmer patriot as leader. Subsequently, the government will be the government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
